David was born and raised in Richmond, VA. He graduated from NC State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a Minor in Business Administration. David began his career as an advisor with Jefferson Pilot Financial in 1990. David and his late business partner, Dennis Collins, moved their practice to Osaic FS (formerly known as Lincoln Financial Securities) in 1999.
David enjoys a unique relationship with his clients, which is founded on trust and mutual communication. David has worked with Judy Stewart, Client Relationship Manager, for the past 9 years to ensure he is providing a client-centric service throughout the wealth planning experience.
David has attained his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from the American College of Financial Services and his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM practitioner (CFP®) certification from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. As a 34-year veteran in financial services, David works with his clients to design, implement, and monitor a carefully constructed plan of financial independence. David holds series 65, 63, 7, and 6 licenses and is registered to conduct business in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia. David also maintains an advisory relationship with clients in several countries overseas.
David has been involved in his church, serving as both deacon and elder. He also serves/served on the board and chaired the board of numerous non-profit boards, including the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities and the Better Business Bureau Educational Foundation. David also served on the board of the NC State Alumni Association and currently sits on the board of NC State University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Other philanthropic interests include Step-Up Ministries and Band Together.
David and his wife of 32 years, Ann, have lived in Raleigh since graduating from college. David and Ann, together with their sons, Sloan and Will, enjoy spending time outdoors playing golf, hunting, fishing and attending live music performances of all sorts.
